Audiophile Vacuum Tube Microphone/Line Preamplifier

About this product

Audiophile Vacuum Tube Microphone/Line Preamplifier

The Behringer MIC2200 brought audiophile vacuum tube character into reach for every home, project, and professional studio that wanted real warmth, real harmonic richness, and the unmistakable analog mojo of a true valve front end — without the boutique-brand price tag. A dual-channel microphone and line preamplifier powered by a hand-selected 12AX7 tube per channel, the MIC2200 became the secret weapon behind countless vocal, guitar, bass, and instrument tracks recorded in working studios around the world.

What it gave you: Switchable +48V phantom power for condenser microphones, a defeatable low-cut filter to clean up rumble and proximity buildup, polarity reverse for fast phase corrections, and silky-smooth gain that lets you push signals into glorious harmonic saturation or keep them clean, open, and full of air. The variable input impedance even lets you reshape the character of dynamic and ribbon mics for that perfect tonal match.

Built to drop into any chain: Balanced XLR and 1/4" connectivity meant it slotted in front of the converter, on the mix bus, or as a dedicated flavor box on stubborn sources. Two channels, true stereo operation, and the kind of analog character that no plugin has ever quite captured.

Status: The MIC2200 is retired from active production. For today's tube and hybrid preamp options, explore Behringer's current studio outboard lineup — the same accessible analog warmth, with modern reliability.
