Incredible technology. Replaced my old Whirlwind 32/8/150 with this and 150 ft Ethernet cable. The snake and case reduced the trailer weight by almost 200 lbs.

INCREDIBLE SOUND QUALITY

I had to call Behringer tech support to get this working but in less than two minutes total they had me up and running. Once you experience the sound quality you will be a believer, the Midas "Head Amplifiers" sound great at all gain settings. I have a "Flagship" X32 in my main studio, an X32R in my drum booth and the S-16 for additional inputs in the studio area, I feed 32 channels (in blocks of 8) to Logic 9 DAW software and I've never made better drum recordings. My main mixer is a Neve 8816/8804 with a Soundcraft GB16 for an additional 16 inputs, our main studio monitors are Meyer HD-1, Equator D5 and Yamaha NS-10m. The Behringer digital system sounds amazing through all the speakers and is a dream to work with. Good music to all.

Great addition to the X32 board.

This is the second S 16 we have purchased, going to be hard to go back to analog XLR snakes.

works well, a little cramped.

It works well as intended. The biggest downside is it gets very cramped when all the plugs are in, and you need to trace out why one cable isn't working. If Behringer made an opposite box, an 8 in, 16 Out box for around $400, then together, these could serve as an excellent digital snake for non Behringer Boards. This does have an option for that, but it requires 2 boards priced 900 each, and you only get 8 in 8 out. For 1800, you could buy much better analog snakes, or a behringer console. But as intended, as remote inputs for an X32 Console, it works well.

Works Like A Charm

I've used this digital snake and it works like a charm. Many features however the quick way to connect the box to my X.32 was to do the following as you won't connect your X32 to this puppy until you do: First ensure the S16 is in the correct mode by holding down the configuration button while spinning the selection knob ccw till the first mode is reached. Then you go to your routing to move inputs around. I had my first 8 channels routed to X32 then 9 through 24 routed to the S16. A built in metering system on the S16 allows the stage tech to adjust the preamps on the X32 remotely, However I basically did everything from the X32 / Ipad / Android so I configured the X32 to lock out controls from the S16 snake. Nice feature. I ran two sets of main speakers so pairs 5 & 6 and 7 & 8 were the outputs to the main amps/speakers. Outputs 1-3 provided the three monitor sub-groups. Works flawlesly.

This unit works perfectly! The few ms of latency it has is completely negligible. Convenience at it's finest. This unit would really shine for a touring crew or mobile church that has to setup and tear down every show. In our case it simply allows us to get past the limitation of only 24/8 channels in the existing snake. I made a cable out of some bulk utp cat5e and normal rj45 ends (not the ethercon ones). It is about 150 feet snaked through a conduit in our church. Just as a point of reference in case you were worrying about having to get the more expensive stp or ethercon-terminated cables.

So Nice

I love this. I also got the X32 from Behringer and they connect with a single CAT5 cable. I eventually got another one of these S16s so I now have a portable rack with a few Wireless Mics as well as the one in my main rack with the other mics and amps.
