When it comes to audio amplification, most people think that if one hundred Watts is loud, then 200 Watts must be twice as loud—wrong! For volume to be perceived as twice as loud, you’d need ten times the output power and one heckuva lotta loudspeakers. This is a really subjective topic, as your gigging situation will determine your actual power and loudspeaker requirements. For instance, you will probably need more power and loudspeakers for a 12-piece funk band at an outdoor concert, than you will for a string quartet in a wedding chapel.
As a general rule, if you can perform comfortably with a pair of small PA cabinets (1 x 12” or 1 x 15” plus a horn, such as our B1220 PRO or B1520 PRO), or if you’re looking for a power amp to drive your monitor system (up to 4 of our S1220Fs), then the EP1500 is probably all you’ll need. If you decide to add a pair of subwoofers to the above system (say our B1800X PROs), you’ll need to also add an EP2500 in order to push them to their true floor-shaking potential.
