Versatility

The Basics

The ADA8000 is a state-of-the-art 8-channel A/D (Analog to Digital) and D/A converter with 8 built-in IMP (Invisible Microphone Preamps) microphone preamps. You can plug in your favorite mics (ADA8000 even includes +48 V phantom power for studio-grade condenser mics) and record directly to your multitrack or computer-based recorder, thanks to the built-in ADAT® interface. Conversely, the ADA8000 can also be used to convert digital signals, from soundcards and other multitrack devices, back into analog audio.

AUDIO TECHNOLOGY

Review: AUDIO TECHNOLOGYEight A/D D/As and mic preamps, all for around $60 per channel? Sean Diggins asks: ‘How do they do it?’
As a front-end to any low cost or ‘mid cost’ audio system, the ADA8000 is an excellent choice, even without considering the price. Once you consider what you receive for the money, even those who have loudly made a point of never buying Behringer gear in the past will have to swallow their words for this unit. The ADA8000 is already selling like hotcakes worldwide and is destined for constant back order status. Order yours now.

SOUND ON SOUND (UK)

Title: Eight channels of mic pre-amplification, A-D/D-A conversion, and ADAT lightpipe I/O, all at a remarkable price. Is it too good to be true?
Review: SOUND ON SOUND (UK)If price were no object, I'd say the ADA8000 should have more detailed metering, its rear-panel sync switch is difficult to access in most rackmount setups, and there really should be some way to send the preamp signals directly to the line outputs. I might also say that having XLR line outputs is overkill on a unit of this kind where most users would probably prefer to use TRS jack cables to connect with the back of their patchbay. Having said that, price clearly is an issue, as the unit costs less than most single mic preamps in the UK, yet it does what it sets out to do extremely well. I've already bought one to add to my system, and its subjective performance is as good as from units costing several times the price. It will also save me acres of rack space!
Summary
The ADA8000 is such a useful and nicely presented piece of kit that you have to do a double take when you see the price. A useful addition to any system with free ADAT sockets!
